Trunk You Very Much

Tree Silhouettes

Thank you!

Have you ever thanked a tree
For believing you were who you could be
For laying down glorious crown
And sky-kissed throne and golden gown
So you could see through skeleton glade
Stars swept free of any shade
Have you claimed “Peace” and said
“I am the wind” as whispers spread
Gown shuddering as if in fear
Of your grasping hands drawing near
Stood you there as all stood still
Listening to your soul and will
Silence at your offered calm
Tingling breeze under your palm
Have you begged “Speak to me”
Teach me to speak and be free
Of the illusion I am unlike you
But instead recognize what is true
We are the leaves we are the wind
we are the stars with wishes pinned
Have you moved in perfect time
To a tree’s rustling whispered rhyme
As it believed you were who you could be
Have you ever thanked a tree

  1. Thank trees all the time… a tree was recently cut down next to my home… makes me sad still. Love your photo and words. Going to thank a tree right now 🙂
