Thunder Us
Lightning
once
had a conversation
With air
and cloud
and all that nation
“I will provide you
with such a show
But your applause
need be heard
down below!”
“How can we clap?”
The air did say
“We have no hands
on which to play
The sounds of an
adoring throng.”
This bothered lightning
but before long
“I think I have
just
the solution.
Though it will take
some resolution.”
“Let’s hear it,”
said the wary sky.
Lightning was coy
and she wondered
why
“I will strike down
through your core.
Then as you snap back
as you were before
The sound will be like
great applause!
Do not fear this greater cause.”
“We will just
be moving on.
Feel free to flash
AFTER
we have gone!”
She got up and moved
in such a hurry
That she fell into
lightning’s fury
The sound of such
a simple blunder
Was lightning’s applause
we call
thunder

Great poem and great image. I just wish we weren’t having quite so many of those thunderstorms at the moment! What an idea, to make lightning a coy lady…
😉
Glad you enjoyed the poem if not the weather forecast!
Thanks for letting me camp out in your blog for a little while. I had a great time — love your work — and tried to leave my campsite as clean as when I arrived. I’ll be back!
Stop by anytime fellow camper! I’ll keep the fire going and the coffee hot.
