Why Elephants and Mice Don’t Socialize

English: A female African Bush Elephant raises...

(Photo: Wikipedia)

The elephant
   one day
went walking
And heard
   someone
beautifully talking
And so went
   in search
of who
Spoke so
   so he
could learn how too
“Hello?” he called
     feeling
like a louse
“HELLO! boomed
  the voice
“My name is MOUSE!”
“N-nice to meet you,
     where
are you though?
I can’t see you
   Should
I just go?”
“Not at all
    friend.
I’m down here.”
Said the voice
    So
loud and clear
The elephant looked
    down
to see
    a creature
WIth a Huge
   Fluffy
   tail
as his main
    feature
“What a gorgeous
     full tail
     my friend.
A regal aire
    it does
      lend!”
“Many thanks
   I fell like
     a King!
Just walking around
  with so full
     a thing!”
“That must be
    the secret
     of your voice.
With kingly thoughts
     you have
     no choice!”
“I suppose that
   theory will do,
What is it I
    can do
     for you?”
“Well, if your
     grand voice
     is a frame
       of mind,
Could you help
    with my tail?
     If you’d be
       so kind.”
Saith the mouse,
   “I’ll do what
        I may.
Where can we
    start
      on this
         fine day?”
“Could I just stroke
     that tail
      you’ve got?
That would
     really
       mean
         a lot.”
“By all means
     friend
      of course
         you may.
It might help
     me think
         of a
          way
We could get
   you a tail
    grand and full.
Careful now.
   No need
      to pull!”
Sorry, it’s just
    this silly
      fly!”
He batted
   at it
    and closed
      one eye.
He SLAPPED
   the fly with
    deafening sound
With one HUGE
    foot
      upon
        the ground.
Mouse just
   SHRIEKED
     and pulled
         away
His tail
   now
     shrivelled
        hairless
           and gray
“OH DEAR!
   I’M SO SORRY!”
     the elephant yelled
The mouse just
    SHRIEKED
      and  his
        tiny tail held
“Answer me friend
     are you alright?”
But the mouse
   could only
     SHRIEK
   in fright
The elephant
   felt so bad
      he ran
        away
Trumpeting for
    there was
      no more
         to say
When next
     they met
       mouse
         held up
      his tail
Tried to speak
    but
     he did
       fail
He could only
   SQUEAK
      and
     mime
His tail
   was
     ruined
       for all time
Elephant
   felt guilty
 again
    ran
      away
And so
   it
    continues
       up to
         today

🙂 am I not always? Love the reading railroad you send my mind on…such great things in your mind, though I can’t say I understand everyone as I wish I did…:)

      • Seems I must answer you as you did me. Even I don’t know all I write, but that’s why I write. To understand more and more. I’ll do my best to answer any questions if you like. I’m not bent on being all enigmatic and mysterious. 🙂
