Skin Story

Golden Toad (Bufo periglenes) †. Français : Cr...

There once
    was
a toad
   who
thought that
    he
Was so
    much
uglier
    than
he should
    be
Each day
   that’s
all he thought
   about
That he
   was
   ugly
without a
   doubt
He even
  forgot
just how
    to
jump
And noticed
   then
the smallest
   bump
Had appeared
   upon
his face
So now
   he
felt more
   out
of place
“Now they
   will
most certainly
See how
  ugly
I must
  be”
He fretted
   deep
into the
   night
And woke
   to
realize
   with
a fright
Now instead
   of
just one
   bump
A second
   appeared
upon his
    rump
“Now they
     will
most certainly
See how
   ugly
I must
   be”
Said our
  little
two-bump
  friend
And I
   wish
this did
   the
story end
     But
that poor
     toad
he did
     not
quit
    Stressing
out until
    every
bit
   Was
covered up
    from
head to
     toe
   With
hundreds of
    bumps
don’t you
    know
   So
he began
   to
hide each
   day
   And
would not
   come
out would
    not
play
   Until
one day
    just
down the
    road
   Hopped
the smoothest
    little
toad
   “How
is it
    that
your skin’s
    bump
free
   How
can I
   get
that skin
   for
me?”
   “It’s
simple really
    all
you need
    Is
one who
   believes
you can
   be
freed”
   He
looked at
   her
“Please would
   you
   Help
me to
   have
skin smooth
   and
new?”
   She
replied “Then
   let’s
begin
   It
must grow
  out
from within”
   And
with that
   she
simply gave
   a
kiss
   And
he all
   his
  problems
didn’t miss
   He
felt those
   bumps
just fall
   away
   And
learned a
   lesson
there that
   day
   Only
love of a
    special
sort
   Can
cure the
   terrible
worry-wart!
