The posings of a poet.

or Treat

There is a trick to getting this stubborn lackadaisical thought
down in a way that it can be consumed by all
though I must admit first it must be caught
before you can demand it be at your every beck and call

I cannot claim I have truly learned what it may be
but I struggle on in my way to see that in proliferation
I may gain that which so narrowly jumps to avoid me
and lands squarely in the mind all pent up in inebriated elation

So here you have a treatise on what I would not say is a block
but rather an effort a work in progress to carve
out the recipe for a tasty wordless stock
of inspiration so I stew on how not to starve

And hunger for the tasting of the essence of it all
and the beginning of what truth and art ought birth
and scrabble at the failings of so many a mind great and small
as we scribes of life and limb try to speak our worth

    • “By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest.” – Thank you for this compliment.

  3. Wisdom is usually derived from experience after understanding the experience’s effect, and personally, we must act upon that new understanding in order to have it deepen into the virtue of wisdom. Love your blog! Gratefully Deborah
